Participants will get an overview of best practices for how to engage families for children's success in pursuit of excellent and equitable outcomes for the students they teach. In the process, participants will reflect on their cultural backgrounds, and their own experiences in school settings. Workshop participants will build their knowledge by engaging in role plays, developing an agenda for their Back to School Night this fall, and by comparing our model for family conferences with the traditional parent-teacher conference.
